Troops Await Redeployment ; Soldiers Torn Between Duty, Leaving Loved Ones so Soon

Soldiers heading back to war put up a brave front Thursday, the day after 7,000 Fort Carson troops received word they'll be sent to the Middle East or Southwest Asia within eight months. Commanders said morale is high in the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, which will send 5,200 soldiers in March, and the 43rd Area Support Group, which will say goodbye to the first of 1,800 troops in October.

Man Shot, Dies After Struggle with Cops

Colorado Springs police shot and killed a man early Thursday after he allegedly pulled a handgun and zapped two officers with a stun gun carried by one of the officers. James Larue, 19, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital shortly after the 1:32 a.m. shooting outside the 7-Eleven at Fountain and Union boulevards.
