Fearing Eric Christen's announced resignation would confuse voters, organizers of the effort to recall two members on the board of the city's largest school district held a news conference Monday that quickly turned into a free-forall. The gathering outside the Colorado Springs School District 11 Administration Building was intended to inform voters that Christen hadn't officially submitted his resignation.

Taming the Peak ; Band of Hikers Hopes to Fare Better Up There Than Pikes Crew

BARR CAMP - Mother Nature was in on the commemoration of Lt. Zebulon Pike's attempted climb of Pikes Peak. Pike had a chilly day, bright sunshine above and a low layer of clouds shrouding the plains below. Monday, the weather for eight hikers on a Gazette-sponsored trek tracing his route was the same, down to the sea of clouds and temperature in the low 20s.
