D-11 Superintendent Fired ; Contract Buyout Could Cost $426,000

Colorado Springs School District 11 Superintendent Sharon Thomas was fired Thursday night by a board as divided as the one that hired her last year. The board voted 4-3 at a special meeting to oust Thomas effective July 2 -- a year into her three-year contract.

Christo River Art Faces Delay ; Artists Likely to Pursue Lengthy Environmental Review

Christo and Jeanne-Claude's dream of draping the Arkansas River with seven miles of fabric is so problematic that federal officials already know they probably won't give the artists the quick go- ahead they seek. The Bureau of Land Management -- the first in a series of agencies that must approve the contentious "Over the River" -- has warned the artists their proposal is in trouble.
