Arson Suspect Held ; Blaze Becomes Murder Case; 2 Bodies Found

Two bodies were found Wednesday inside a charred Colorado Springs apartment complex, and a man was arrested on suspicion of first- degree murder in the arson fire. Gene Johnson, 36, who police said did not live at the complex, was jailed without bond at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Many Options, but Intel Plant a Tricky Sale

Finding a buyer for Intel Corp.'s sprawling computer-chip plant in Colorado Springs could be a tough sell. It's as big as a shopping mall, was designed to manufacture a product that's increasingly being made overseas and would need millions of dollars in upgrades to be converted into something else, local real estate and economic development experts said Wednesday.

Residents Start to Rebuild Lives, with Area's Help

Rita Edwards was standing among piles of donated clothing, appliances, toiletries and virtually everything that makes up a modern life Wednesday when someone handed her a package of socks. "Oh yes, socks -- you guys are awesome. It's the little stuff that counts," she said Wednesday at Rock Family Church as friends and volunteers helped fire victims start putting their lives back together.

Most Displaced Residents Lack Insurance

Most residents of the Castle West Apartments escaped on Tuesday with their lives and little else. Many will have to rebuild those lives from scratch, because few had renters insurance to replace possessions lost when the complex went up in flames.
