Carson Gi: Civilians Shot at ; Man Facing Murder Charge Talks of Violence in Iraq
A Fort Carson soldier told Army investigators he and another soldier routinely shot at Iraqi civilians while on patrol in Baghdad, according to court records filed in a Colorado Springs homicide case. The U.S. Army's Criminal Investigation Command is investigating the alleged war crimes.
Colorado Springs native Rich "Goose" Gossage is headed to the Baseball Hall of Fame. A Wasson High graduate, Gossage gained fame with nine major league teams and won a World Series with the New York Yankees. Gossage was chosen for the Hall by voting of the Baseball Writers' Association of America and will be inducted on July 27 in Cooperstown, N.Y.
Council Approves a Towering Proposition
By May 2010 the 22-story Cooper Tower will be downtown Colorado Springs' tallest building, looming over the neighboring City Auditorium, under plans approved Tuesday by the City Council. More than two years of planning came together in a one-hour discussion where no opposition was voiced to the 583,069-square- foot building that will feature a 237-room hotel, 59 condominiums, a parking garage, and retail and office space.
