'07 Job Growth Slowed to a Trickle

Job growth in the Colorado Springs area slowed during 2007 to the lowest rate in four years, another sign that the local economy might be nearing a recession.

The U.S. economy is "right at the threshold of a recession," and the local economy would likely follow the nation into a downturn, said Fred Crowley, senior economist for the Southern Colorado Economic Forum at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
