Students at the University of Colorado at Boulder have chosen controversial professor Ward Churchill to receive a teaching award, but the award's sponsor is withholding the prize until a university investigation into Churchill is complete.

"If a student were under suspicion about a paper or test, they would not get a grade until their name had been cleared," said Clark Oldroyd, vice president of the University of Colorado at Boulder Alumni Association, whose student group sponsors the award. "And basically we're applying the same standards here."
