The appropriately, if unimaginatively, named Babies follows four children in San Francisco, Tokyo, Outer Mongolia and Namibia from birth through their first birthday. It is a film that, by its very construction, invites us to compare and contrast our tiny subjects. By the time the credits roll, there is only one, irrefutable truth: Love crosses all cultures and brushes aside all borders. No matter the color of our skin or the state of our birth, we are all, by every conceivable measure, wondrously the same.
