Adding just one team wasn't in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's interest, so Bemidji State will wait while the league finds a second interested team.

Bemidji State was the lone applicant for expansion after the WCHA lifted its moratorium on the matter, and the school impressed the league with its presentation, commissioner Bruce McLeod said. But the WCHA decided having 11 teams would be awkward, especially for scheduling, and a formal vote on Bemidji State's inclusion was never taken Tuesday. McLeod said he wanted to find a second interested team by midsummer.
