A $2.5 million check will soon be cut to a fast-growing northeast Colorado Springs school district to help relieve crowded classrooms.

For nearly two years a group of developers and homebuilders has been collecting voluntary payments on new-home construction in Falcon School District 49. Even though voters approved a tax increase in 2005 to build several new schools, growth continues to outpace school construction.
