Summary


Two Colorado lawmakers introduced a $30 million plan Tuesday in Congress to preserve open land around Fort Carson.

The money would buy conservation easements on up to 50,000 acres on the southern and eastern boundaries of the post near the Pueblo County line, blocking development. The landowners would get cash to leave the land in its existing use, primarily as grazing land, under the two bills introduced by Sen. Wayne Allard and Rep. Joel Hefley, both Republicans.
