A Fort Carson soldier known for spending much of his time outdoors fishing and boating was killed Tuesday in an attack in Afghanistan.

Pfc. Eric D. Soufrine, 20, of Woodbridge, Conn., died of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised bomb in Farah province, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.
