Clayton G. Smith died peacefully at home March 1, 2004. He was born in Indian Lake, New York, September 11, 1915. He worked in New York as a sign painter, logging camp cook and restaurant cook. "Smitty" was a WWII veteran and moved to Colorado Springs in 1946 to work as a salesman for Jewel Tea home shopping for 31 years.

His passions were keeping his yard to perfection, fishing with friends, fly tying and cooking for his family.
