Commissioners: Proceed with Tire Dump Project

Summary


Colorado Energy Recyclers on Thursday got the green light from El Paso County Commissioners to proceed with plans to build a $10 million recycling plant at the Midway tire dump south of Fountain.

The project, though, is contingent on another arm of the company, a cement kiln in Pueblo, receiving state approval to use shredded tires as supplemental fuel, said Trent Peterson, vice president for GCC Energy. The Mexico-based business owns both facilities.
