ENGLEWOOD - The first time Jeffrey Brown saw Dwayne Carswell, the offensive lineman was on a CAT scan table.

Brown, a surgical assistant, helped surgeons operate on Carswell after a major car crash last Oct. 27. He saw a shift in Carswell's internal organs, some broken ribs and a 10- to 12-inch tear in his diaphragm. Carswell's spleen, which had moved from his abdomen to his chest through the torn diaphragm, was removed.
