Summary


A proposed downtown convention center and hotel that has the support of business leaders now has the backing of the Colorado Springs City Council.

If it formally buys into the plan next month, the city will give $3.6 million a year to construction and upkeep of the facility. Backers had said the $168 million project would be difficult without that funding.
