Council Drops Plan to Place Limit On Board Member Hiring

Summary


Calling it an insult to the city's volunteers, a majority of the Colorado Springs City Council defeated a measure that would have required council-appointed board and commission members to wait a year after they leave before applying for jobs with the agencies they oversee.

The measure was requested by Councilman Randy Purvis, who was bothered that three Memorial Health System board members landed highpaying jobs at the city-owned agency during or immediately after resigning from the board.
