City traffic engineers and people who live and work on a short section of Platte Avenue have hammered out a plan to make safety improvements to the busy street.

Project manager Colleen Dawson said Monday that the plan probably won't make everyone who lives or does business on Platte between Hancock Avenue and Union Boulevard happy. But she said the improvements, agreed to by a group of residents and business owners, should increase motorists' safety while allaying fears the road would be widened or trees cut down in the residential blocks of Platte.
