Delbert "Toby" Wells, 85, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2004. He was born on May 15, 1919 in Beaver City, Nebraska to Benjamin and Effie Wells. After completing high school, he hopped a freight train and came to Colorado Springs, where he went to work at The Manitou Amusement Park. In 1941, he moved to Victor, Colorado to work the gold mines. There he met his wife Emma, who owned the Silver Dollar Caf. Together they moved to Colorado Springs in 1943, where Delbert went to work for Aircraft Mechanics during WWII. He became a rancher in Divide, Colorado in the 1940's, and in 1958, he and his family moved to Fountain. He continued ranching in Divide while farming in Fountain.

Delbert is survived by sons Toby and Don, sister Reba Shaeffer, brother Merlin Wells, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Emma and daughter Lois.
