Deputy Colorado Springs Police Chief Pete Carey will be the interim chief until a replacement is chosen for outgoing chief Richard Myers, the city announced Tuesday.

"Chief Carey has many years of policing experience and will be able to lead the organization during this important time of transition," Steve Cox, the mayor's chief of staff said in a statement.
