IRVINE, Calif. - Robert C. Hardie, son-in-law of Freedom founder, R.C. Hoiles, died Saturday in San Francisco. He was 84.
Hardie was married to the late Mary Jane Hoiles Hardie, daughter of R.C. Hoiles. During his half-century tenure at Freedom, Hardie served as chairman of Freedom's board of directors from 1982 to 1998 and was publisher of the Appeal Democrat in Marysville, Calif., from 1945 to 2000.
