DENVER - A measure that would have kept guns away from minors and placed more responsibility on parents was defeated 5-2 Wednesday by the Senate State Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.

Senate Bill 158 would have made it a misdemeanor if a gun owner stored a firearm where a juvenile could get it, including locking it up in a place to which a child had access.
