Summary


The killing of a man who was shot as he drove away from a house was self-defense under Colorado's "Make My Day" law, a defense attorney said Wednesday in opening remarks of a first-degree murder trial.

Prosecutors, however, said Gary Lee Hill committed murder when he fired the shot that killed John David Knott, 19, on Sept. 5, 2004. Knott was shot as he drove from Hill's house in the 500 block of Potter Drive, northeast of Academy Boulevard and Platte Avenue.
