Local Food Week Puts Health On the Table

Summary


Eating locally grown foods is not a new concept. But it has turned into a national movement as we understand more about the modern age of industrial food production, genetically altered crops and E. coli outbreaks. We are increasingly concerned about the quality and "cleanliness" of the foods we put on our tables.

And the "eat local" movement has a diligent group of proponents here. Leading the effort are Michele Mukatis and Melissa Marts, the driving forces behind Local Food Week, an annual event coordinated by Peak to Plains Alliance that encourages the support of our region's local food community and resources. It will be held Saturday to Sept. 25.
