Local Foreclosure Woes Ease in March

Far fewer Colorado Springs-area property owners fell into foreclosure last month - a sign that foreclosure woes have eased, but haven't disappeared.

Foreclosure filings in the Springs and surrounding El Paso County totaled 272 in March, a 42.1 percent drop from 470 filings during the same month last year and a 5.6 percent decline from 288 filings in February, according to a report released Friday by the El Paso County Public Trustee's Office. March's total was the fewest number of foreclosure filings since 258 in September 2008.
