LAFAYETTE - The drive hardly could have been more mentally taxing on Wasson's defense on Friday.

The Thunderbirds were down by nine points when Monarch had the ball to open the second half in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs. Wade Landowski, who had 135 yards and three touchdowns in the first half, was on the bench nursing a hernia.
