More Teens Are Joining Wired World

Summary


Attracted to a world of options they can access at will, an entire generation of teenagers has been converted into techagers. A new report, "Teens and Technology" by The Pew Internet & American Life Project, finds that the number of teenagers using the Internet has grown 24 percent in the past four years. Now, 87 percent of those between the ages of 12 and 17 are online.

In short, the report says, "the Internet and cell phones have become a central force that fuels the rhythm of daily life" for teens. Their use of the Internet has intensified and broadened as they go online more often and do more things when they are there.
