It's true -- in a way. Back in October, the talk show diva challenged everyone in her studio audience to spend $1,000 to help someone else. The show called it the "Pay It Forward Challenge," after the 2000 Kevin Spacey-Haley Joel Osment movie (and the book by Catherine Ryan Hyde) in which a child's generosity sparks one person after another to help out in a virtuous cycle spanning the globe.
