Permits to cut Christmas trees in the Pike National Forest go on sale Nov. 28 for those more interested in the fun of the search than the shape of their trees.

The permits allow area residents to scour an area of the Pike National Forest just east and north of Woodland Park. A variety of species can be cut, depending on the area, but foresters warn few of the trees will have the perfect shape of the farm-grown variety found at supermarkets and at tree lots.
