Pertussis Cases Twice '03 Level ; Trend in State Also Nationwide

Summary


Nearly 790 cases of pertussis have been confirmed in Colorado this year, numbers not seen since the 1960s, according to the chief of the state's communicable disease program.

The caseload -- officially at 788 as of Thursday -- also is more than double the 368 cases confirmed in Colorado in 2003. Pertussis also is known as whooping cough.
