Getting a top-five pick in the NFL draft means getting a great prospect and having to pay him $20 million to $30 million in guaranteed bonuses before he plays.

The financial commitment that comes with a top prospect is a reason there are few trades involving top-five picks. The last time a team traded up into the top five was 2003, when the New York Jets traded with Chicago to acquire the fourth pick. In 2004, the New York Giants and San Diego swapped top-five picks in a blockbuster deal that included quarterbacks Eli Manning and Philip Rivers.
