While the Independence Bowl is a nice step up for Air Force, after three straight seasons at the Armed Forces Bowl, Georgia Tech can't say the same.

Last year, the Yellow Jackets won an ACC championship and played in the Orange Bowl. Before the season they were ranked 16th in the Associated Press poll and 17th in the coaches' poll. After a disappointing season, Georgia Tech is a long way from being ranked, and far off a Bowl Championship Series game.
