DENVER - Hours after NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced the cancellation of the 2004-05 season, Colorado Avalanche general manager Pierre Lacroix had trouble accepting what happened.

"Because it's probably my nature, I still think (a labor agreement) could hit," Lacroix said Wednesday during a press conference at Pepsi Center. "I'm waiting for Superman to come in. But I guess it won't happen."
