El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa on Thursday abandoned plans for a $6.9 million headquarters in downtown Colorado Springs.
Maketa announced the plan two weeks ago, and the County Commission was to vote on it this month. Maketa said he changed his mind because paying off the debt to build the headquarters might jeopardize money for other items, such as pay raises and computers.See the full content of this document
