Paper products giant Weyerhaeuser Co. has acquired a Colorado Springs-based company that is developing lowcost radio frequency identification devices.

Weyerhaeuser acquired OrganicID Inc. Monday to use the company's technology in its cardboard boxes and other packaging materials to help customers identify, count and manage inventory, said Frank Mendizabal, a Weyerhaeuser spokesman in Federal Way, Wash.
