There were the Cowboys' bullriding-in-a-nightclub years, the macarena-goes-Western phase, the concerts by country-music greats -- or the soon-to-be's -- and the thousands of locals who went there to learn some boot-scooting and Texas two-step. Couples met there; some had their weddings there. Newly divorced people went there to figure out how to be singles again. Regulars have had their funerals and wakes at Cowboys.

Words and memories tumbled over one another as owner Kathy Guadagnoli and manager Tim Metcalf looked back at the 21-year history of the club, told in autographed photos that covered the walls, personal Christmas cards from Phil Vassar, the Bellamy Brothers and others, and in scrapbooks. There were notes of thanks from many charities the club has supported.
