Survey Finds Cause for Hope On Local Hiring Front

Colorado Springs employers are the most optimistic in the state about hiring plans for the rest of this year, with nearly half planning on creating and hiring for new positions and more than half filling vacancies, according to a survey from the Mountain States Employers Council.

The survey of 313 employers in Colorado, including 28 in the Springs, found that 54 percent of local employers plan to fill current vacancies and 46 percent plan on creating and hiring for new positions; another 46 percent plan to keep their staff at the same size. Statewide, 42 percent of employers surveyed plan to fill vacancies, while 24 percent expect to create and hire for new positions and 55 percent anticipate keeping their workforce at the current size, the Denver-based group said Thursday.
