Our View: Tea Party Racists Offend Naacp (Vote in Poll)

Summary

Racists were hard to find at the most recent tea party in Colorado Springs. Most at the rally opposed high taxes, federal spending and debt. They were happy to blame George W. Bush for making government too big, and Obama for making it bigger. Love or hate the message, they were patriots for assembling to express their opinions in an organized and peaceable manner. Their participation in the process was akin to activities of war protesters, gay rights advocates parading downtown or civil rights activists marching on Washington.

In most large gatherings, a few misbehave and cast suspicion on the majority. This past weekend's PrideFest consisted mostly of ordinary citizens peacefully celebrating a cause. A small minority came with radical messages and scandalous attire. At too many PrideFests throughout the country, members of the North American Man/ Boy Love Association show up to advocate sex with children - to the embarrassment of mainstream lesbians and gays. The radicals don't fit in, but for some reason they're attracted to PrideFests.
