Winning bidders can woo or thank special sponsors and patrons or just invite a group of friends for five-course dinners, a barbecue or a cocktail-party fundraiser.

Beshears and his beloved dog, Dac, are the unofficial hosts, welcoming 19 groups this year alone. Beshears has had caged tigers from Serenity Springs in his garage, a cowboy hats-and-guitars evening with the Chancellor's Leadership Class from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and a demo in his living room of the robotic da Vinci Surgical System from Penrose-St. Francis Health Services.
