ENGLEWOOD - Broncos tight end Jed Weaver, who was a favorite to replace Shannon Sharpe as the starter, is having a more limited role as the season nears.

In Friday's exhibition game against Houston, Weaver didn't play until the second half. Byron Chamberlain and Patrick Hape started the game when Denver came out in a two-tight end set, and Jeb Putzier played in passing situations with the starters in the first half.
