Soon after being released from prison, a Colorado Springs man allegedly started a contractor's scam and swindled at least 12 people out of nearly $25,000, according to court papers.

Nestor Benavidez, 41, was jailed this month on suspicion of 12 counts of theft -- 10 of which are felonies -- and 11 counts of crimes against atrisk adults, a felony.
